Now Accepting Nominations for Fall 2016!

In 2015 the Colleen Findlay Foundation launched the Hands to Serve Project in honour of Colleen's birthday on September 30.

For a second year we are asking local businesses, churches, and YOU to nominate a single parent, elderly couple, widow, widower, or anyone that you believe to be worthy of a special gift. The gift will be tailored to each nominee in the form of something tangible that will be useful for the recipient, and a day of service. The day of service will include members of the Colleen Findlay Foundation visiting the recipients to help with chores, housework, or yard work.

We are excited to partner with you and our community to find someone who deserves all that we can offer them. The Findlay Family reads each nomination and prayerfully selects the nominees we feel are most deserving.

To nominate someone please complete the following steps:

1. Ask the individual if you can nominate them.

2. Write a brief description of the nominee, their family, and why you beleive they should be nominated.

3. Mail or email your nomination to:

Meet Our 2015 Recipient: Jocelyn Mendoza

Jocelyn is an inspiring woman for how hard she works, her transparency, strength, perseverance, and selflessness. The first time we met she shared her past of how she freed herself from an abusive relationship to raise her daughter to be as aware of her self-worth as she is. Jocelyn works hard to give her daughter the best in life and is easily one of the most joyful people in our community. When we met she was currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, but she wasn’t about to let that slow her down. She boasted in her daughter, as any good parent should, and whenever her cancer came up she would shrug and respond – “other people have it far worse”. As her treatment continued, we had the privilege of driving her to the hospital for radiation and were amazed by how generous and bubbly she was through this all. Jocelyn is a bright light in our community and is the type of mother and friend we should all strive to be. We are humbled and grateful that our family has been given the opportunity to know and serve such an amazing woman.
